Whimsical, colorful, fun and funky are just a few of the words that describe the work of award-winning artist and instructor, Joann Loftus. Majoring in art and interior design, Joann attended Columbia Basin College in Pasco, Washington. She has been taught by several regional and nationally known artists, and has studied extensively under abstract artist Shirley Despot. Joann continues to take many classes and workshops, both online and in person, in order to hone her artistic skills and learn new techniques and styles.
Recent additions to her offerings include small, stylized works of whimsy. Her colorful paintings have touched the hearts of many who find these charming works of art to be the perfect piece for that special little spot. Her "Whimsical Women" have found their way into collector's homes across the globe, from Indiana to California, New York, Texas, Hawaii, Canada, Mexico, Australia, Greece, the United Kingdom, and Iceland, to name a few.
Joann has been juried into numerous art shows and exhibitions, including the Midwest National Abstract Exhibition, the Indiana State Fair, the Will Vawter Show, the National Fine Arts Exhibition, Nickel Plate Arts and the SALI Collage Exhibition. She has also been a guest artist at K. Scott Studio at the Murphy Art Center in Indianapolis, as well as an invitational artist for the Small Works Show at Gallery 431 in Columbus, Indiana.
Winning more than a dozen awards for her fine art, Joann has accepted several First and Second Place awards at the Indiana State Fair, First Place at the SALI College Exhibition, and Outstanding Watercolor at the National Fine Arts Exhibition.
She is an active member of the Southside Art League and the Watercolor Society of Indiana. As a native Hoosier, Joann maintains an in-home studio in New Palestine, Indiana. Her work can be found at several boutiques and galleries throughout central Indiana.
